Trois Couleurs: Bleu,Blanc,Rouge

By bliba
It is always difficult for me to decide with which picture to begin our travel documentation. Chronologically ? Through each other ? .....

I chose this picture because it shows the three colours of the flag - the blue sky, the white clouds and the red dress of the woman (who is
Italian - I was allowed to take a group picture of the lady and her two friends with her mobile phone).

The holiday was great , the sea a dream , the food and wine excellent ,beautiful weather ,the people very friendly and helpful the cities ( for me) a bit disappointing .
I have so many fascinating pictures of Paris in my head, my expectations were accordingly high - too high! I think that was also the reason why I never wanted to go to Paris ..... I always avoided going there .... not to destroy my illusions of the city of love .....
Now Paris is a city like many others - hectic, dirty, noisy .....

This picture was taken in Saint Emilion - viticulture as far as the eye can see
The quality and diversity of Saint Emilion's wines is due to the great variety of soils as well as the skilful blend of grape varieties.

thanks for looking

Both fine compositions….I particularly like the extreme minimal quality of your version.

I have only vague recollection of a school trip to Paris..sticks out in my mind because of a nose bleed that required a doctor!!!....have never gone back..maybe some your framing in the lead shot....hope she wasn't contemplating jumping!!😁

Bravo 🥇

Paris is . . . . infuriating.
I refuse to queue two hours and more to get into the Louvre.
Shop assistants in the Boulevard Haussmann can be incredibly rude.
But a very good friend and colleague introduced me to the areas off the tourist circuit, from the Place des Vosges to the Mur des Fédérés and the Canal St Martin; after 20 years of annual visits I even introduced him (a Parisian) to the delights of the Galérie Véro-Dodat and the rue du Pélican . . .
The service in little bistros hidden in forgotten quarters is infinitely better and friendlier (and cheaper) than in the swanky bars on the Champs-Elysées . . . I could go on and on . . .

Glad you are back, Ollie. And thanks for the UA👍👍👍👍👍

Paris leaves a bad taste. We were driving home from Switzerland, and stopped a night in Paris. When we got up in the morning, we discovered the car had been broken into. Luckily, they were after valuables, but they were with us in the hotel. They were not interested in clothing etc, but we had toys on the back floor for our nieces and nephews, which were stolen. We went to the police, but this was a time of unrest in Paris with the OAS an Algerian terrorist organization. The police just shrugged their shoulders and waved their arms and just said, OAS!! That was it!
Anyway, to get back to your images, Ollie. I like both of them, especially the alternative version, with the girl in red and blue sky. Very miniaturist but powerful.

Good choice visiting the wine region Ollie … I agree hot noisy crowded cities are not a good recipe for summer travel for me anymore . Much rather be by the sea…
Or a lake in summertime . If you stayed long enough I wonder If rapunzel would have unraveled her hair for you ?
Love the story

I agree 100% with Bill. Having visited many times and even lived there for some eighteen months when I was 20ish, I was pleasantly surprised, a few years ago, to discover the 3rd and 4th Arrondissements after being recommended the districts by Bill himself. Far from the tourists, narrow streets, small independent boutiques, a totally different world compared to 'Paris, the tourist capital of Europe'.

Welcome back, Ollie! Some great sights to see and photograph in Paris, but as you say, it's hectic and noisy. And so hard to get in anywhere due to as Bill, says, the long queues of tourists 😬 Good to see something different from your travels, do like the lead especially 😃👍🏻

Love them, and I do like the simplicity of the version. I did wonder about mono, but, of course, the red is the raison d'être. If you don't mind, Ollie, I did also wonder about the lead but cropped up slightly, to give the isolation of the woman and the drop of the wall, but simplified without the foreground? Just a thought. Either way, I look forward to more from your trip.
