Tudor House 1

By pamelajean
This Grade 1 listed timber-framed building is Southamptonís most important and oldest historic building.
Built around 1492 by Sir John Dawtrey, it has been a public museum since 1912.

According to a survey conducted in 1999, the house was 'opening like the petals of a flower', a reference to the way the house was bowing outwards.
So the museum closed to the public in 2002 for restoration, and remained closed for 9 years.

2 versions. More to follow.

Excellent angle, as well as a strong composition. The old buildings architecture, is so much more appealing than that of the modern buildings,I like that you show both types for the viewer to compare. TFS

Love these old buildings, and a fine example here, Pamela. Viewing it against the ugly modern building in the background just makes it more appealing Smile Have to go for the lead as my fave Smile

How attractive that old timbered building is, esp. when you compare it with what lies beyond.
