Tulip Test 2

By conrad
As requested, a version of this image in which the pattern of the background was not made an overlay on top of the flower.

So far, I still think the previous upload was more "special" and interesting - this is just a flower in front of a backlit background.

But of course I am interested to hear your (detailed) opinion. And mods are welcome, too.

Thanks for looking,

Strange as it may seem, to my eye this one looks more like a piece of artwork than the previous one, but they are both extremely good pieces of work

I think your right, the other one with the background pattern is best, though neither really do it for me. Painting 'effect' photo's just don't cut it my wya I'm afraid though I do appreciate the work and effort gone into this Smile

Thanks, Jeff, Chris and Paul!

Paul, it isn't meant to be a painting effect, really. Especially not this particular upload, because no pattern has been put in or on the flower. This is just a piece of backlit paper on a lightbox, shot separately from the flower, and then the flower was put on top of the paper. Just to give it an interesting background. My previous upload was indeed intended to be a bit more arty, although the same "real ingredients" were used. But thanks for giving me your honest opinion, I really appreciate that!

I do like this one the tulip is a beautiful colour and seems to have a nice satin look to it sorry not to keen on the green of the leaves against the BG but overall it is a lovely,my preference is definitely the other has a much more refined look to me.

This is excellent work I think I prefer this to yesterdays. Well composed. The colours and the texture in the background is very good.

I like the way you have co-ordinated the BG colour with the flower but have to agree that the previous upload had a more special feel to it.

I prefer this one, the tulip still blends in with the background, but the tulip is the focal point, as how it should be. Super work.

Hi Conrad, Another good one of these shots, really nice marriage with the background. Fabulous idea, well executed. helen

Have to be the odd one out, I prefer the other one. One idea might be to fade the overlay on the flower just slightly so the flower is a little more visible. A layer mask could do that, might be worth trying. Lovely effect.

I love the textures on this Conrad - the petals look like silk.

Ha! Divided opinions, I knew that would happen!

Thanks, everyone! Glad you're giving your opinions honestly and in detail.

Ann - Sounds like a good idea, I'll add it to the list of ideas (which is growing...). Thanks!
