I love what you've done here Conrad - works brilliantly, it looks like a print from a precious old book! Lovely. Lyns x

Not sure about the layer over the top of the flower, but I think that's just my personal taste......
Certainly make for an interesting image.

I think at the moment the background paper is overwhelming the tulip (now this may be the intention), but I'd either boost the tulip a fraction or reduce the background opacity.

And despite that Smile) I still quite like it.

Cheryl - Funny, that's exactly what my wife said when she saw it. I like it as it is myself, but I will definitely try and see what happens when I follow your/her suggestion. So watch this space. And thanks your detailed comment!

And thanks to everyone else, too!

I really like this image a great deal. I have played around with similar ideas so know how difficult it is to get the right balance but I think you have been successful with this one.

like the effect very much Conrad - though as above I think the tulip might look better without the pattern running through it itself. great work though!

Hi Conrad,

another one here who agrees with Cheryl's comment - including the part about still liking it!

It has a lovely 'old' feel to it; look forward to seeing your next version.

Well, I'm working on that next version, but I have a feeling I won't like it as much as this one.

But thanks, everyone, very kind of you all! And do watch out for my next upload...

I like this Conrad. The pattern is overpowering the flower somewhat but it works for me. Glad to be number 30 Smile

Thanks for the 30th vote, John. And I'm working on that overpowering aspect. Hopefully some results in that department tonight or tomorrow.

This is really good Conrad. I agree with the comments about the strong pattern to a certain extent but it still works really well for me. Love the texture, colour and composition, and the overall effect of the image

Thanks for your detailed comment, Sandy. I will be posting a version where the pattern is only behind the flower, but to be honest I think that's a lot duller than this, because that simply makes it a flower in front of a background. At least this one is different. Which is what I was after. But we'll see how the other one is received when I post it. Thanks!

I really like this alot, the way it seems to blend in with the BG yet still retain its own features in the head of the flower,my eye is caught between the lighter leaf and the head and although its quite an effective BG its not too bold to effect the the image as a whole, just my opinion though : ) lovely work.

Just had a look at the other three and this is firmly my favourite overall. An image to be proud of - lovely effect (is the orange flower wilting because of the Dutch football performance by any chance? - sorry couldnt help it!)

Thanks, Sandy, glad you like it.

As far as football is concerned: I stopped caring years ago. As soon as it became clear that the trend was to kick each other instead of the ball, I lost interest. I do know what's wrong with our present team, though: they´re just not mean enough. Oh well. Dutch tulips are a lot more interesting than Dutch football players, I think... Wink
