Thanks to the wonderful Lianna Glass for helping me realise this image, she had to put up with a lot, not least a wind machine positioned about 1 foot away! This is an image I had wanted to do for ages, so the photography didn't take long at all - can't say that about the processing tho. The leaves and glass, were shot at home - throwing them in the air and lighting with a strobe, in the same direction as the window, to make them look realistic.

This is probably the hardest composite I have ever done, I'm thinking of writing it up for my website. Some of the base images you wouldn't believe.

I am thinking of combining some of these images into a series. When I posted I asked for details of a poem song to go with this, John (Dudler) came up with the following which I think fits nicely

What love entails lyrics by Kirsty McGee

Oh god, you are a tricky one
Like the fulsome, rolling sea
Got a whole lot of anger behind my tongue
And I'm saving it all for thee

What's the good of this world that you brought me to
If you fill up my eyes with tears
When I'm deaf to the birds and your trembling words
For the curses that fill my ears

And lord you've made me travel
Till my boots wore through at the heels
But to shake his love must I truly lie
And be broken upon your wheel?

I will roll on down like a thundercloud
All full of light and of rain
But when it's spent, each increment
Comes back to me again.

Oh god, you know the heart of me
Is built from solid stuff
I may seem to crumble like the sand
But like glass I break and I cut

And the thousand pieces of my heart
That were all trodden down in the dirt
They may rise up like a bird in flight
But they never can shake this hurt.

Oh god, you are a tricky one
Like the salt sea in my ears
And when I die if I come to you
There?ll be questions in my tears

What?s the good of this world that you brought me to
If the good in a man's so frail
Nobody will ever love again
When they know what love entails

(So put your fingers to your lips?
Lest you tell what love entails?)

Excellent work Nick, what sort of poems are you looking for, are they to go with the images in your portfolio
or just images relating to Turmoil, there are many poems and poets available but it depends on the images
you want to connect them to and the mood you wish to create.

Very good idea Nick ( I would have liked the dress to have similar blasting as her hair ) A lot of work for an explosive image !! Well done on the GEA

Yes there was a lot of work, but I knew exactly what I wanted before. The wind machine was placed (well held by Ian Munro) at exactly in the position the window would be, no matter what we tried the dress didn't move much.

Disturbing, and beautiful...

I imagine that you want poetry that is similarly beautiful, but hinting at darkness. One starting point might be Leonard Cohen's songs and poems. I shall see if I can find any other leads worth pursuing. Send me a message if there's a spec to work to, so to speak, so I can ask my literate friends the right questions...

Thanks Janet, "that" little excursion paid off, the backdrop is made up of images from that day Wink

This was the most I've ever spent on an image time wise. Ceri was brilliant (and a mete fraction of the time was spent in post), and we will be working together before the end of the year, we discussed what I wanted before taking and she got it, not just the pose but the feeling behind it.
