Well done! The lights alone are cool, but the steam is amazing!

An excellent industrial image - something that may not exist for much longer when the EU forces us to close down coal power stations.

Hi Phil Many thanks for viewing and you comments. I've just been reading a bit about that too, but the power station will continue in some guise into 2020 and beyond, not sure it will have the steam coming out of those hyperbolic coolers though!! Thats why they invented photoshop I think!! WinkWink

The shape of the motorway gives some lovely sinuous light trails. Not been there .... yet.

This looks familiar, PhilWink
Lovely contrast between the steam and sky, something I have not achieved in my various visits.

Yeah I've seen this somewhere before! It was a gamble going here as at 9 degrees I thought it would be too warm and the steam would not be visible. How wrong was I. Also got lucky with the wind blowing in the right direction. Thanks for your help. Have a great weekend. Best regards Phil

Perhaps I would've cropped a little bit off the top but that is a tiny gripe in what is a stunning image. I always enjoy coming back to your pf because you have so much variety and one never knows what you are going to come up with nextWinkGrin

Thanks for comments Ryan, to me a crop would cut the exhaust coiming out of the left hand thin chimney and would take the effect away. Glad you like the element of surprise. watch this space !!

We had our second projected digital image competition of the year on the 20th March. I was up against 48 other images in the advanced photographers section. The bar was set very high with some excellent work from my peers and the judge had a difficult task in sorting out what was what, he held back 24 images after the first viewing so he could pick from the top images, I entered two images, the first one being 'Do Look Up' featuring a vertical perspective of three modern buildings taken in Manchester, this achieved 3rd place with 18 points, whilst my Ferry Bridge Power Station image seen above was awarded the full 20 points and was first place. The judge Colin Douglas said the ĎSí curve through the image was superb along with the slow shutter effect of the working power station, he just couldnít fault it! I feel itís probably one of the best images I have taken to date or at least within my top 10 favourites.
