I've been having a look at your portfolio, Richard.
I see that this picture is more recent and will therefore indicate how well you are picking up the lost abilities that you used to have.
You have asked for as much help as possible.
I wonder if there was any way you could have moved to the right and shot this so that the turtles that are in a line were coming more towards you, so that their faces were visible. The single turtle on the left need not be included in your frame at all because there is too much of a gap between that one and the others on the right. You needed the right-hand group ONLY in your picture.
As with any creature that moves, you needed your shutter speed to be a bit faster.
You kept your ISO low, but it could have been even lower because you shot this in the middle of the day when the sun was at its highest, and you can see that some of the turtles' backs are suffering from over-exposure.
The little moss-covered log, the row of turtles and the colourful water are all you need here for the best impact.
