Tutankhamun Carving and Food Containers - 1336-1326 bc

By SlowSong
Visited the Saachi Gallery yesterday to see the Tutankhamun exhibition. It was very crowded and apart from a few things, I was quite disappointed. Various items from the tomb were on display, but none of the masks or stand-out famous items. You can see better Egyptian artefacts in the British Museum.

But I loved this little wooden carving, only about 14 inches long, and the Versions are really interesting - they're painted wooden containers which contained food for the King, some remains may still be inside.

Extraordinarily beautiful. Somehow a warm, organic material such wood gives a more intimate and personal connection than kilos of gold.
