TWIN TOWERS

By Tish1
Good afternoon all, appreciative thanks for taking the time to view and comment on my previous upload 'Do you wanna dance'. I quite liked that one, because I love otters and he posed so well.

For those of you with a nervous disposition, before reading on, please ensure you are comfortably seated with a sweet cup of tea or preferably something much stronger..............

I was up before the dawn chorus this morning............ steady! the shock will dissipate, just sip the drink slowly. Tongue

I did the research, checked the time for sunrise; checked the cloud cover forecast, prepared all my gear, set the alarm and didn't turn over in bed when the alarm went off............. I can tell you are impressed Grin. Got to my destination on schedule, set up the camera, fired off a few test shots. There I was primed for action; talk about being stood up, I did get a little excited at the few teasing glimmers of hope, but basically the sun still hasn't risen Sad.

The light was very flat, so I just had to make the most of what was available, and after I had put all that effort in.

I am including variants, which are a different shot to the lead image, the subsequent variants are variants of the original variant, if you get the picture i.e they are crops of. The image is not quite right and I don't know how to put it right or what I have done wrong and I know Richard [Dickspicks] is desperate for opportunities to do mods? Grin, but everyone is welcome to join the party.

I appreciate this image is not as sexy as the ones I tend to drool over, but I quite like it. They are water draw off towers on Lady Bower. For those who know Lady Bower and recognise the spot, you will appreciate that there is a dirty great wall, presumably designed to obscure the view for photographers. So I had the tripod at full extension, which meant it was taller than me, and I'm not vertically challenged, on my tippiest toes, neck stretched as high as I could I just managed to see the shot I wanted through the LCD.

Anyway, please enjoy my offering today, and please let me know what I did wrong on the variants.

Tish

Sometimes life can be very cruel, Tish - all that research and preparation and the sun can't be bothered to get out of bed to join you!!
Never mind, you didn't come away empty handed - four super shots with some lovely reflections!
No pressure for mods, then??SmileSmile

The changes are subtle but the impact is noticeable, I like!!! I knew you couldn't resist Grin Do you know, I am sure I am cockeyed, I can never a get a picture straight, the worse thing is, I have an in camera leveller and a leveller on the tripod which you would think would give me a fighting chance.

Well now then, I got to say Tish 20 out of 10 for that write upGrinGrinGrinGrin Laugh.......

Now am I right in thinking this is the Ladybower reservoir heading towards Bamford, as opposed to the Ladybower heading towards Derwent? I ask this as although I know the area like the back of my hand .....I always get confused as to all the names.....Proberbly because the one heading to Derwent is called DerwentTongue .Now if it is the Ladybower heading to Bamford....How on earth did you get to the other side? Isn't that the road to Bamford I see in the picture (well not exactly tarmac and white lines but you get my driftTongue)
I was here the other night......well not on that side, the other side, got some sunset shotsWinkTongueSadBlushGrin.....sorryTongue
I wont do a mod.....Richard has already done a great oneGrin

I think youve got decent exposures in all the shots Tish, which is very good under the circumstances.

The odd colous are there likely from filters, but thats filters!

I like V1, slight rotation and a fiddle with the white balance in the mod.

You're quite right Diane, that is the Bamford Road, Bamford being to the right of the picture. How did I get to the other side? I swam all the way of course GrinGrinGrin; there's a walk way across, nicely hidden and you would have had to be on the other side for a sunset, although, for all the sun I saw I may as well have been on the other side. All I really got for my efforts is a blotchy face, full of midge bites.

I did have a filter on; I was every hopeful of catching some rays, but it was a variable filter set to the minimum, which I suppose would be the equivalent to the lightest possible filter. It may also be the position I was shooting from, on my backside through trees and long grass; thanks Willie

V1 is the one that appeals to me, Tish.
A slight tilt to the right, but I like the composition with the two arches.

If anything, I'd tweak the colour balance, but other than that, a wonderful set, Tish - love those reflections! SmileSmile
