Hi Eric
First let me explain, if you want people to look and vote on your photographs then they have to stand out to people looking at the thumbnails, if run of the mill then people will not click for larger look.

This upload would have been better taken from further back to get the tree on a third, and then also all of the tree would have been included, no branches cut off, being honest Eric there is nothing spectaculer about the tree to warrant it being the centre of the composition, Eric try this as I do! Set a project for yourself, write down what you are going out to capture with your camera, set one thing like landscape, street photography, macro, wildlife, when you have an idea then go out and photograph the chosen subject but only that, before I leave for a photo shoot I know what I am going to do, if a shot crops up out of the ordinary then take it, let me know what you are going to capture next! Then upload the best of these shots, think before you leave and before taking photo stop and think, is the composition and exposure OK.

Best of luck and lets see what you come up with, Eric do not delete this photo as the advice could also be useful to other people starting out in photography.
