V2 with the open eyes is a smasher, but there is something very appealing about your V1, though perhaps just put up for a joke, I love it because it's different.
Both shots are wonderful - but V2 is SUPERLATIVE!! Love it!!

I like the haughty look he's giving you in v1 and the manic stare in v2 where it looks like your camera clicking away has startled him and woken him from his slumber!
