Two Teaspoons

By chase
Well, that's what it says on the bottle Wink

I eventually found my stash of old bottles, hidden away in the bottom of a box.
I made a new shadow box from a cardboard box that a delivery came in.
Cut a slit the top, then covered it with a lump of cardboard with a circular hole cut out. Lit by a torch from the top. I diffused the light from the torch with a carrier bag...make do and mend me Wink
The bg is grey paper, cut to size.

So, 3 frames combined in Lightroom, lit from above, finished in Photoshop.

I love playing with light, especially on glass.
There could be a short set of these, you have been warned Wink

Thanks for taking the time to drop by.
Constructive critique and mods, the bottles are not straight Smile

A very fine result Janet.
That's an interesting lighting set-up. I have an empty box or two so I could give something similar a go, if I find anything worthy to photograph of course Smile

Yo have created a splendid mage, Janet. The diffuse lighting works very well on the bottles, though what two teaspoon of their contents would do to you is anyone’s guess.

Thanks all.
Bobby and Kimmo, wonderful to have your UAs, many thanks.

Keith, give it a go, it's fun trying to get the light in the right place. You could go with anything you can pick up in the garden for instance , leaves would be interesting, especially wet ones.

An excellent still-life with a well balanced use of the available light.

I like the light Janet - gives a lovely subtle tonal range on the bottles.

It's beautiful. Coincidentally, I painted the inside of a box black yesterday, thinking I'd give this technique a go, but I'm pretty sure something isn't right, or the box isn't deep enough because the front aperture (open side) is too big. Didn't you show us your set-up recently? This shouldn't be so difficult??!!

(Has the 'Edit comment' option gone? Mine has) Anyway..........I've googled it and maybe have a better idea how to go about it.......

Thanks everyone.
Fiona the “edit comment”option drops away after a couple of minutes.

Ok for anyone wondering…
The box I used is pretty square.
Turned it on its side so where I had opened it was facing me, together with the flaps caused by opening the box. These cn be used to block any other light coming in from the “front” leaving enough room for the camera to see inside the box.
Slit cut on the top(which was originally a side), not too wide or it defeats the object.
Used another length of cardboard(was part of the packing inside) and cut a circle in the middle.placed that piece over the slit.
So now there is the option to use the slit for a length of light or the other piece with the circle cut out to make a round shape with the light.
Cut one length of paper to fit so that it slides in the box forming a backing and a base. With different coloured paper I can change my bg and base as I like.
I do hope that makes some kind of sense.

One thing about objects like this - and really old buildings too - you don't have to worry about getting them straight! 😁 Wonderful old bottles, well arranged, and as with all your presentation, Janet, the icing on the cake is the beautiful lighting 😃👍🏻

My guest editor award.
A picture that brought back memories of my Dad who went out digging for old bottles when I was a lad.
He had quite a collection of bottles many of which he sold to help us through the tough times

great image
