Two towers

By tom_earwaker
Another one from Hong Kong, this is the Shek Kip Mei Estate (I think). Tried a few alternative crops but went for this one in the end as Iliked having space above the buildings. Has been brightened a little, particularly the shadows.
Thanks for looking!

Another good use of a wide angle lens.

I think that spot is likely to be a bright spot on the lens, or a reflection.

I really like this, but it works better for me in Guy's modification. The specific interest for me is the lines of flowers and shadows, the architectural perspective creates the linear frame as background. The expanse of sky is a distraction - this is about light but the crop actually conveys the light better to me because of its simplicity.

In the main gallery this would get my UA.

This is a great image, and the modification brings out its best potential.
The symmetry is nicely done, the flowers add a softness to the hardness of the architecture, and then the flower shadows continue the softness down into the foreground.
Lifting the shadows was a sensible idea. Unless you had the light directly in the centre, it would have been impossible to get perfect exposure both sides.
I think I would gladly give one of my UAs, like Moira, in the main gallery.
It's an impressive image.

I was wondering about a crop - Guy's is perfect.

Brilliantly seen, and nicely done. The flowers make the tower blocks far more human!

Totally agree re the crop, and it's award worthiness.
A very strong image with those flowers and their shadows making it.

I agree, the crop is an improvement. Thanks for the kind words, I wouldn't learn as much posting in the main gallery though, always good to get honest critique Smile

In general, I like what you ave done. For me it needs a deep blue shy to emphasise the buildings and up impact value. I suspect the sun is in the wrong position for a polariser, though.
