Typhoon Sunset

Another in a series of aircraft images. Again this was taken at the end of the day about an hour before sunset. The sun was very strong and we were covered by a cloudless sky.

I was attracted by the high contrast of the scene, such deep shadows and the warmth to the reflected light on the air craft fuselage.

I metered for the tonal range about 80% into full highlight with the intention of blowing the specula highlights but keeping detail in the upper tonal range and throwing the shadows into near complete darkness. I use a warm white balance of 6200k to replicate the golden hue of the sunlight.

1/640s at F10

I love the light on the plane..beautiful.
Don't like the dark at the bottom of pic, I scrolled it up & down & thought it looked better without it, there was more emphasis on the plane.
Only my poor opinion though.

Stunning light in this, Ben...

I don´t know what I ´ve done to my TFT yesterday evening after about 30th calibration, but this really looks fine...I can see all the tiny details in this...

Thanks for the pm...First I have to translate it in Finnish...LOL...

I think the picture is all around the canopy and the cannard shadow...like to see this with a severe crop

Just picked this shot up by looking through the Fairford search.

Stunning capture of the Typhoon with the sunset sky lighting it up beautifully ! This shot should have had many more votes IMO.
