Nice shot, even without the foreground as you stated.
Can do with a little more contrast, and I would siggest extending the upper canvas and filling with sky to place the horizon on a third.
Ive done this in my mod, and sharpened. I personally am not a fam of the heavy black border, so Ive used a different treatment in the mod as an example, - its less restrictive IMO. BTW, look at the second mod, - the first one I accidentally loaded the original shot

Lovely shot, Alan. It is well composed and I don't feel you need any further f/g interest as you already have the rippled reflections almost to the foot of the page. In my opinion, the odd boulder or two here would be a distraction. Lovely bit of work.
