Un-chained

By chase
My take on a Poppy theme Wink

I set this up for members of my Camera Club.....all that rust ??? !!! was the cry...lol..they all had a go at it though Wink I think they expected something much more 'girlie'.
Lit from one side by early evening light coming from a window, opposite was my small lightbox to try & cast some extra light onto the hook & chain.
The base is an old lump of sacking.
Thank you for taking the time to look/comment.
Sorry I have not been around much to comment, just a few swift clicks & running...I have a really poorly Mum at the moment, awaiting a rather big operation on her heart,so she has taken my time & thoughts up of late Sad
Janet xx

P.S
For anyone interested, this image was judged last Friday as part of a panel of three (you can see the other two in my pf),well when they went onto the display box, total silence fell in the room & the judge began wringing his hands wondering what to say,at first he said it was slightly macabre but then the storyline descended upon him & his comments were really quite complimentary."So very different for 'Club' photography" & "I wish I could see inside the author's mind" were a couple of comments made by the judge,he smiled a lot, shook his head a bit & walked around the room for a while whilst he thought & thought.
He pondered for ages & at the end he decided to award it 3rd place ( the winner was me too with a set of 'childs play' images...also in my pf...there ya go Chris, the Teddies made it !!)
I don't think he quite knew what to do with the bird stuff but it did make me smile !
I did promise I would let you all know what happened.
I bagged second place too but don't tell anyone Wink...I had a rather good night Blush

Goodness. Where do they get these judges from? Perhaps if it'd been a live chicken he'd have been able to get a grasp of it.
Now remind me, why don't I go to clubs any more?

Sorry, got waylaid. A heavy still life. But a bit floppy doppy too. Smile

Sorry Janet, got the wrong bird species. But I suppose it wouldn't have mattered to the judge anyway. Your concept was way above his head, obviously.

Gosh, double BlushBlush I immediately realised my mistake and corrected it but you're too fast for me. BlushBlushBlush

I do sympathise with judges who have to have a wide knowledge of everything.
In their place I'd be struggling for a suitable comment about content too!
Janet I can't blame him for wanting to get into the author's head!

Congrats Janet on a clean sweep... Not surprised that Childs Play were winners, thy are magnificent. This is a fab shot too... Well done.
I bet the club members images are not at all like yours. What about all the processing? You can't learn that in an evening. Thanks for letting us know how the birdy pics got on. You are a tease!! Or in our club's case maybe that should be "You do the teas" as attention to the refreshment rota comes before all else Grin
I'm sorry to hear your Mum isn't well. Worrying times. Best wishes, Fiona

I don't look at an image and think what is going on in their head - I am looking at composition, colour, definition, light and processing, do I like it - I just wish I good do all those just half as good as in this image!!Smile
I liked the Teddies too!

Not sure the judge would gain anything from seeing inside this authors mind, traumatised for life poor man, the word will soon go round you know, you'll be barred LOL.
One Two Three impressive Janet, can just see you dragging those chains into the club, like your different take on poppies, works really well.

A stunningly brilliant image! I for one would get a lot of pleasure talking to the people who think about and create the more unusual images. But then I've always gravitated towards the weird!!Blush

Wonderful still life; beautifully lit and processed!
It's time for judges to change from "different but good" to "different and therefore good"! Where would we be without originality!
