I've started a Project365, challenging myself to take a photo every day. This is one of my shots. I wanted to play with a mono conversion as I wasn't keen on the lurid orange of the petals, and I liked how the detail on the stem stood out this way. I think I cropped a bit too tightly at the top of the frame, but it's something to work on Smile

Thank you very much for the votes and comments on yesterday's upload; I really appreciate them. Enjoy your Saturday, and thanks for looking Smile

At close range f/11 isn't going to get everything sharp, but from your description I guess that isn't what you were after.
It's a nice conversion, though I agree the crop's a bit tight.
If you don't object to a bit of "critique" ( I appreciate you didn't request it, so my apologies if it's unwelcome )...I would suggest that the subject would have been better placed in the right hand side, leaning into the frame. Having the subject leaning out of the frame creates a tension, which although slight, doesn't seem appropriate here. Also, as the eye has a tendency to read from left to right, having something on the right, in any image, acts as a "stop," and prevents the eye from "falling off" the edge of the frame.
There, I've finished pulling it to bits.Grin

A good display of the normally unseen parts of this flower.

I'm glad you caught this gerb from this angle, Anna. I've always found the backs of gerberas very photogenic. Same goes for the calyxes of hibicuses. Excellent detail you've got on the...er...calyx? Think it's a calyx here too, ya?

Good to see a different from usual flower image. I like the texture in the stem. Further to Alan's critique, I wonder if a square format would be worth considering?
Good for you for setting a target of at least one photo a day for a year.
Superb skies in your portfolio.SmileSmileSmileSmile

Good luck with the 365, a fab start. Yes possibly you did crop a little tight, but the light is glorious. Very nice Anna.
