What on Earth is 'up to scratch' anyway. These shots might not be the sharpest ever but they are taken through glass and record a priceless encounter so well done you! I'm envious. I can't even hold a camera unless sitting down at the moment and that is only of Garrath gets it for me!

Three Beautiful images especially the two intimate portraits. I'm guessing he was hoping to catch a visitor to your bird feeder. A similar hawk zoomed in low across the lawn and into the bushes and then popped out looking left and right having missed the kill. A thrilling moment but a mental image as the camera was out of reach. Excellent catch on your part. TG

Great shot, I wonder why he was there?... Did he get anything from the garden or were BT working on the telegraph poles so he couldn't land there .........

Seeing them (we see them every day here) is one thing - taking their picture is a completely different matter.
Well done, Nathan - especially with V1.

We had one visit once...took a wood pigeon out...they fly very low and fast and rarely perch where visible...well found..what a treat GrinGrinGrin
Excellent images Nathan despite the constraints on taking the shots. Had one in our garden yesterday afternoon that took a pigeon.

Tonight about 1.5 hrs ago I had an unexpected visitor in the garden, I heard a very loud noise turned round and the Vulcan Bomber was heading straight for me (or so it seemed) I was awash with excitement, couldn't keep the dam camera steady...........she was flying very low, so low I could see the pilot...........the cockpit is so small and the window so very small I was amazed to see the pilot when I downloaded the images..........we also had a female Sparrowhawk yesterday........what a great weekend so far.............GrinGrinGrinGrin

Excellent pictures. We get quite a few around here but they are wonderful birds. One captured a blackbird in my garden once - I felt awful, especially as the poor bird was squawking and the Sparrowhawk just looked me in the eye and flew off!!
Great set of images, V2 for me great clarity and focal point.

All I get is blackbirds and robins.

Regards.

Would love to see one locally, one visited our local allotments a while ago when i was at work. My old man saw one take a pigeon from the church next to them and then proceed to pluck and eat it in a tree a few yards from our allotment. A fine set Nathan, I'm sure he'll be back again in the winter for a takeaway from your bird feeders!
