Both are good. I prefer the natural looking sky and light in V2 but the comp of V1 works better for me. It misses out the traffic cone and the part glass globe which to my eyes, add nothing to an already excellent composition.

A tricky decision, Ed!!
I like the consistency under the 'added' sky in V1 but would, perhaps, have tried to add some fill light to put a bit more brightness into this lower area.
V2, in my humble opinion, would benefit from the shadows/darks bringing out and the highlights/darks reducing a little to try to make the consistency more even.
Maybe use a software version of a graduated filter to reduce the brightness at the top of V2.
Overall, I think I prefer V2 with its natural attributes.
I always find images of this type difficult to deal with.
You seem to have had a great time on the 'cut'!!Smile

v1 for me, the flatter lighting gives far better overall detail, but the trees do look a bit strange where the blue hasn't reached Smile

My preference is with V 2, Ed, even although there are highlights and quite deep shadows, as it seems more natural, whereas in V 1 with the blue sky one would expect there to be sunlit areas too.
I see that the subject here also featured in the distance in your previous shot.

Definitely V1 for me, Ed, the sculpture is well defined and the reds and blues are vibrant.
Although I like the fencing and boats included, I wonder if it would have been possible to get a lower pov in order to place most of the sculpture against the sky.
The huge shadow area in V2 doesn't appeal to me, especially cutting across the sculpture.

Don't know how photo filter works, but as Dave points out the blue hasn't been extended into the trees.
I've changed skies before but trees are a nightmare.
Although there is a bit of burn out in V2, I prefer it because it does look more natural.
The cone is easily disposed off but I know it's not your style to spend hours phootshopping!

V1 for me Ed but it just needs a bit more work on the treeline as Dave has said.
I think you could crop the sides too - it would put more emphasis on the sculpture.
Not keen on V2 because of that shadow.Smile

V1 is a much better view of the sculpture - more uniform detail - but the sky doesn't seem natural. Then in V2 the sky is more natural but the figure seems to have lost some detail (the shadow?). So am opting for V1.Smile

The addition of the blue sky in V1 doesn't work because you can see the original grey sky in between the branches of the trees. Far better to have left the grey sky and concentrate attention on the real star of the shot, the sculpture. A shallower depth of field would have helped to do this. Sadly the shadow in V2 takes the attention from the sculpture and focussed it on the brightly lit elements. So, for me, V1 with the artificial blue sky removed and the background slightly blurred would be the best shot. Well done for trying though.

Many thanks for your valued input Lynne, I should have cropped as you suggested and added a pale grey sky which would have looked more naturalBlush
