United Utilities Wayoh Reservoir almost dry

By philtaylorphoto
27 July 2018. Edgworth, Bolton, Lancashire UK. Wayoh Reservoir owned by United Utilities has now substantially drained for much of its area. It is now possible to walk straight across several places that would have been under metres of water only days ago due to the ongoing heatwave. Torrential rain that was anticipated today failed to arrive as forecast. United Utilities said that the Pennine Reservoirs only had around 50% of their capacity, and typical use is around 5% per week in figures as measured on 22 July. In conjunction with the Entwistle reservoir it provides 50% of the drinking water for the nearby town of Bolton, pop around 200,000. A hosepipe ban is due to come into force on 5th August.
