Up On The Downs

By Minty805
During our recent walk over Headon Warren, above Alum Bay, IW, just before the lockdown, this scene presented itself. We don't have a lot of epic scenery on the Island (apart from a few cliffs), but quite a lot of bucolic views across rolling countryside. The warm, autumn, late afternoon light looked rather nice, and this is the result.
I'm grateful to all those who voted or commented on my previous upload; it's always genuinely appreciated and constructive criticism is very welcome. Thanks for looking.
Allan

There's something archetypal English about the scene, Allan...
The shadows from the low sun make this for me.

You have some amazing views on the island Allan, and they are so varied too.
I think you may have seen them for too long.....lets swap!😆😂😃
Love the light and depth you have captured here Allan.

I love the light creating these shadows of the field of contented cows. It is nice to see anybody, who is contented these days, but are we going to get let of the leash at Christmas???

Bucolic indeed Allan, I really like this kind of small intimate landscape, and can only second the comments above. Super image.

Delightful - and thank you for allowing mods: this cries out to me to be turned into a monochrome. OK, the Fuji green is attractive, but there aren't any other colours in there...

Apologies if this does violence to your idea for the image.
This is a lovely pastoral scene restful soothing calming.

Superb

Thank you for taking the trouble to do two mods, John. I'm always very pleased to see others' interpretations and always ready to learn from them. Every shot I take, I tend to think whether it's to be a colour or mono final image (or just binned, more often than not). Much as I love b&w, I always saw this as colour because of those greens and the way the low sun was playing across the folds of the fields. So, no, your versions are not at all violent to the original idea, just different; the first being preferable to the darker second, I'd say.
