I like it too. I like the anghles that are present in the buildings and the conflicting shapes that the buildings make. Shame about the lighting. With a bit of colour, this will be an excellent abrstract.

The overall subject is a good one, but a few things listed here will improve it further:

1) colour balance needs adjusting. I would use a colour balance adjustment of the midtones : -39, +9, +67 in photoshop.
2) levels adjusted : 0, 1.20, 248
3) Shadow/Highlights adjustment of a) Shadows- amount 6%, tonal width 39%, radius 95px, Highlights - amount 23%, tonal width 46 %, radius 40px, colour correction +13%, midtone contrast -4.

These adjustments will make the image balance much better. I hope they make sense, and hope you have the software available to do the adjustments.

Nick

I like the subject matter with its range and juxtaposition of architectural styles and textures. i think it's let down by the blown out sky - it wouldbe worth visiting at another time maybe morning or evening when the light is warmer or on a day when there's a little bit of detail or colour in the sky.

I'd suggest cropping away from the bottom to just below where the triangiular things come in, to lose that ugly brown bank

Thanks for your opinions guys. Nick, I've got CS2 but I don't know nothing about it yet. Your mod is realy good so I think I need to start learning. Stephen, this was taken while I was visiting Edinburgh so I didn't have a choice but maybe next time.

All the elements for a great image are there and the mod brings them all together. - gary

Has a bit of a yellow colour cast - correct using a curves adjustment layer set to colour blend mode and click on an area that should be white (i.e one of the chimneys) with the highlites eye dropper. To fully colour correct click a mid tone grey with the midtone dropper and an area that should be black with the blacks eye dropper - but for this image just correcting the highlites should do the trick.
