Urban Friend

By ringyneck
Here he is.....he's back.
After a terrible decline over the years they are clawing their way back.
Over the last 20 years my garden has become a wasteland for birds......either the Sparrowhawk or a host of cats to blame !!! So am glad to see this and a few other Sparrows have been having a flit around the edges of my garden...this was a grab shot as he was trying to find out what I was doing in the garden....I always have the camera ready just in case.

Please see LARGE + F 11

On AP @ f 8, 1/640, iso 800 and 400mm with spot metering and -0.7 ex comp.

Pin sharp focus ringyneck! Your model looks a little chirpy too! lol! Lovely to celebrate a once much more common bird... and good to see them recovering! Nice one!

Very well posed and very nicely captured, Keith. Don't see many of these around these days, so it's good to see them returning.

Fabulous shot - you can have a few of mine - I am over run with them and dunnocks - they make one hell of a racket all sat in my berberis. Ann

Love the way he is looking at you! Great colours. We've got a flock of sparrows in our garden - including some fledgelings despite the neighbours' cats that I'd quite like to stay in their own gardens - and I love watching them.

Thanks everyone.......

Yes he is a character...just after he...well I think it was him...popped over to another fence and wanted to see what me and my son were up to.
At one time we saw about 4...too quick to see if it was a family though.
