Jenn, several hundred were sent over to the UK in 1942-1944, many of which were used on British railways during the war. Most (all but one I think) were then sent to Europe after D-day and were used all over Europe and then sold or given to various European countries. The few that are in the UK now were purchased from these European countries after the demise of steam traction and restored to run on the numerous heritage railways in Britain.
