On the last full day on the Lake Garda holiday, Boxing Day, the outing was to Venice. The coach arrived from the mainland at Tronchetto, an island to the west of the main Venice island. Here there is a large multi-storey car park, plus parking for coaches. To get onto the main island, you have 3 options of crossing over - The 'People Mover' (tram!) which takes you from this large glass Stazione Tronchetto over an elevated track to Piazzale Roma in the Santa Croce area, or a bus service which runs from alongside over a bridge, dropping you in the same area. We, however, took the option of the ferry which takes you anti-clockwise around the main island, dropping off at the San Zaccaria ferry terminal just past St Marks, which is more central than the other two options.
These two images were taken from the ferry just after we set off looking towards the Stazione Tronchetto with, in the lead image, a Vaporetto (waterbus) in the foreground.
