Victorian Engineering (part 1 of 2)

By TheURL
Here are five views in the first of a two-part sequence of images at the site of a now-obsolete piece of Victorian engineering. What impressed me most was the lavishness of the decoration, for which no expense was spared, despite this being a building the public were never expected to have access to. The only clue I'll give you as to its purpose is that it was one of the few places - only occasionally open, even before Covid - where you're quite pleased to be wearing a face mask!

Yes, it's a brilliant place to visit, but quite difficult to get to by public transport.
Must go back there. V2 and V4 my faves.

Its great isn't it? A thoroughly enjoyable day out! I'll put up 5 more tomorrow Smile We went to an Open Day there in the autumn between lockdowns, but went by car. Even then its not the easiest place to get to is it?!

Its got something smelly going on!
What stunning architecture! Despite the need for a nose plug it looks an amazing place to visit.

Such style, and such pride in what they produced. If only we could get that sense of pride in manufacturing back again!
