Video Machine

By dark_lord
While I was looking through a selection of slides for Film Friday Ii came across this one and decided it would make a good Silly Sunday upload as an amusing reminder of how we viewed films before streaming.
A 24 hour self service video rental machine in Epernay, France.
Canon EOS 3, Fujichrome RA100. 30 August 1998

How things progress. We started with Betamax and VHS until Betamax disappeared and now VHS as well. Is it a ploy by manufacturers so we have to upgrade every few years to the latest gimmick. DVD'S are supposed to be next. My rant over. A picture of a memory of what used to be.

My husband and I are big film buffs, our DVD player passed away just before Christmas and I New one was required. Now you would think this would be simple oh no it me a week to sort the wheat from the chaff
And then at last I found the one we needed which matched the TV so we view in 4K play CDs listen to Audio books you name itís got it.
Progress is good thing in parts but I think you are over whelmed by to much choice.

Amazing when you think of the space all these old technologies took up.

So true Carole.

Quote:Beta and VHS, or only the one?

No idea Malc, but they'd have to be SECAM standard as it's in france.
