VIETNAM 2013 #155

By JN_CHATELAIN_PHOTOGRAPHY
When visiting the Cao Dai Temple, you must take off your shoes, leave them outside and walk on a red carpet leading you inside the temple. An attendant dressed in white will follow you and ensure you do not step in the middle aisle. Only the faithful are allowed in the middle for praying.

You may talk quietly while visiting but are only allowed to go forward. You cannot retrace yours steps.

The attendants are friendly and ready to answer your questions at length. I talked to an elderly woman who spoke perfect French but stopped the conversation when I asked her where she learnt French.
