VIETNAM 2013 #169

By JN_CHATELAIN_PHOTOGRAPHY
Damb’ri waterfall is about 10 miles (16 km) from Bao Loc . It is a beautiful waterfall as the drop is about 90 meters down. The best time of year to see it is after the rainy season. In March it was not impressive

The setting is awesome, the waterfall is in the middle of a dense forest with amazing vegetation. While you’re climbing down to the fall, you’re accompanied but the sound of the crushing water and lovely bird songs.

The name Damb’ri, in the K’ho language (a local hill tribe) means “wait”. Here is the legend explaining the name: once upon a time a young man and young woman were in love. They always used to go to the waterfall each time they wanted to see each other.

One day the young man did not show up. He never came back to the waterfall. The girl cried and cried but he never came back. She cried so much that over time, her tears formed the waterfall you see in the photo.
