Vroom Vroom!

By LynneJoyce
15 photos of the Formula Junior cars actually racing on the track at Croft Nostalgia Festival last weekend, plus 1 image of me in costume taken by Garrath with my camera and brand new lens at the request of Jasmine (Xwang.)

Taking photos of racing cars on the track is a dark art and one that I have yet to perfect - a much faster long lens is needed methinks - but I am pleased with the results that I got.

The opener is one of the winners (YAY sharp details but fuzzy background and wheels.) Car 35 is Andy Ace Harrison who looks after our cars, who persuaded us to attend the event, made us very welcome when we got there and introduced us to some very nice Petrol Heads. Good move Andy!

I really cannot praise the event highly enough. The whole thing was wonderful, the stewarding staff were a delight, the exhibitors and attendees a real pleasure to spend time with. So if you are able to, go next year but be warned, take plenty of mega sized memory cards!

Thank you for viewing and I hope that you enjoy at least some of these shots.

It's the Silver machine in V3 that does it for me Lynne.

Great speed set, Lynne, and love your track suit. Needs the compulsory few oil stains to qualify as a full petrol head Wink Wink. Fine images on the track.

A pleasure to view this superb collection, Lynne - I bet you had a wonderful time!
Am I to assume that all photographers need to be clad in white overalls in future??SmileSmile
A wonderful portrait - and the A40 Farina looks in pretty good shape, too!!

An interesting set Lynne.

I don't think you need a faster lens. Your shutter speed is fine for panning - in fact after you've got a few 'in the bag' I'd try going slower. That would be more hit and miss but the results where you get the pan smooth are worth it.

I managed well enough with a 400 mm f/5.6 lens for many years, and with the quality available at ISO 400 and 800 these days you should have no worries.

White overalls must help Grin

I can't keep up with you and your new found love for speedy cars - I'm still scared to go over 45mph whilst learning to drive - very well captured images and I think we can all appreciate the difficulties in photographing
speed with emphasis on the car and blurred backgrounds.
Superb presentation and too many good image to single them out.
Award for all and especially your fun outfit.

If I wanted to get a thrill out of motor racing I would pick this size. So this is a wonderful set. Nicely prescented with a hard job to select a favourite. Well done Lynne.

Hi Lynne - I have to correct my previous comment!Blush
Having viewed your previous wonderful upload, I now know that the car I said was an A40 Farina is, in fact a Morris Oxford estate!
