The monument which stands on Earls Crag overlooking Cowling in North Yorkshire was built in 1816 by wealthy local landowner Richard Wainman in order to celebrate the victory at Waterloo and more sombrely the death of his son in the Napoleonic wars.
Just off the Pennine Way. A lovely perspective looking down past the monument into the valley. A well thought out composition with lovely dappled light and shade from the cloud cover.
