Waiting for Monday

By Joline
Speaking of the logging trucks which use the Golden Road...this is part of the fleet, shined up and waiting for Monday. Since I drive a Subaru, I would prefer not to have one of these barreling toward me on that good, but narrow road! Sunday drives are much more pleasant.

Very unusual shot for you, and very effective. I love the use you've made of the barriers.

Well-composed photograph, the information fits in nicely with yesterday's upload. Those trucks are the size of our railway engines, I certainly woulod not want to get in their way!

Ohhh yeahhh...I liiike. And I reckon KKmoments' son Josh would LOVE these too, Joline.

So cool how you've taken these through those bars! Genius.

And those sticky out things look like the semis' smokestacks but they're not. What are they???

In answer to the red sticky out thing question...those are the braces which hold the timber (hopefully) in place. These are loaded to the very top with tree length timber, and are quite top heavy. On public roads there is a weight limit, and they are checked for tie downs, but they are still rather intimidating to meet. On these private roads, they load as much as they possibly can, since anyone else driving there is doing so at their own peril!

Fully loaded and going at high spped, these trucks are truely frightening-- even worse, to be situated behind one waiting for a light to change-- The thought of an entire load of logs slipping down on top of any sort of passenger car is the stuff of nightmares!

A clever shot you made-- they look so benign !
The gate frames them well--perfectly!!!

How amazing they all look lined up there.
I'm not a driver, but even as a passenger, I would't like one of these along side of me...very intimidating.
They definately look a force to be reckoned with.
