waiting for the up-train

Much of the rail network in this area of the USA is single track. At periodic intervals there are long sidings to allow the trains to pass. This is a Kansas City southern train heading southwest waiting for the up-train to pass. (The variation shows the "Engineer". )

The rain, especially the engine---is very bright and colorful--- sits well agains the blue sky!

He came to have a chat when I was photographing the train. We both donned masks and maintained social distance! He wanted me to take a shot and send it to him. I guess he forgot to remove the mask - or maybe he wanted something to remind me of these strange times. Hence perhaps the salute as well.

Laura came ashore about 100 miles east of us. We hardly caught a breeze. Sadly, the folks in LA were not so fortunate. I have never before read a description from the National Hurricane Canter that included the phrase, "unsurvivable storm surge".
