Walking alone

By oldgreyheron
First I must apologise for my absence and lack of comments and votes. A combination of circumstances (all small things) has made time here very difficult to find - I'm hoping things will improve soon!

I've returned to my Tees estuary visit for two images today. These are both looking North across the beach at Seaton Carew to the hartlepool headland. I couldn't make up my mind whether I liked the wider or closer view so I thought I'd load up both and seek expert guidance.

Thank you for your time and patience, Mike.

Welcome back Mike. Both images are good, personally prefer V1 lots of detail and also you've captured the wide open space of the area and how 'small' and insignificant we are when placed within it.

I follow Andy's opinion to the letter - not feeling too eloquent this evening. You have included the perfect amount of b/g detail to remind us where we are without losing sight of the composition. Don't we get some of the loveliest light here in the North-East? You certainly have a knack of finding it!

Well you only missed a couple of days, we'll let you off. I can understand the temptation to zoom in here, but V1 has that wonderfully gritty foreground, plus the sky reflections in the wet sand. More is more!

I seem to be in the majority in preferring version 1, Mike. I too like the detail of the fg, and most especially the line running through formed by those blocks (sorry, don't know what they are)!

Wish you wouldn't apologise for such a brief absence - where does that leave the much more negligent of us?!

Beautiful images, both. while #1 shows (as said above) how small we are in this world, #2 enhances more the feeling of solitude because the focus lies on the single and only person to be seen.
I could not choose either.

Love the sense of scale with the inclusion of the wanderer Smile

v2 for me....the diagonal lines set off the lone walker to a T. Everything directs your eye back to the subject....outstanding.
