Wombats are nocturnal and normally sleep all day so this was a great surprise to see one out walking at Australia zoo. This was taken last spring and it was mating season so this young male was very active even during the day. He was trying to dig his way into the females pen so the keeper was taking him for a walk to distract him. I am guessing they must have a controlled breeding program. Wombats are marsupials.
The other version is another male who was busy digging.
