Wall Brown - Lasiommata megera

By Mendipman
One of many Wall Brown butterflies we saw whilst on holiday in Corfu last year. Easy to see why with all the pale stones that littered the floor and paths in the olive groves. This was an early morning shot and it was relying on its camouflage so I was able to creep up and get very low with camera. The camouflage is very effective too, had to keep a close eye on it, as soon as you look away and turn back it took time to relocate the butterfly.

Best viewed large.
