Captured in a villa in Herculaneum, a town that was destroyed in the same Vesuvius eruption that obliterated Pompeii.

Amazing early artwork, thanks for sharing. When you think that most of the colour pigments for painting were imported from overseas even in those days, including the lapis blue from Afghanistan, painting a mural or fresco was a very expensive and time consuming business.

Great shot….I visited Pompeii twice it was fascinating ……I never got to Herculaneum
