One from an early start on Saturday morning. At this time of year the sun rises nicely behind Walney Lighthouse and it's an image I've had in my mind for a year or two but never got around to taking it. So I set out to rectify it on Saturday but as I walked towards the lighthouse pre-sunrise I slowly came to realise that it was looking more like a square box than the lovely shape I remembered it to be. Then it became obvious, it is undergoing maintenance of some sort and is completely covered in scaffolding apart from a gap for the light to escape

Obviously disappointed but wanting to rescue something from the morning I walked to the other side of the island and decided to get a shot of the remains of the old pier with Piel Castle in the distance. As you can see the sun was up by this time but throwing a nice golden glow on the pebbles.
Better than returning home with nothing?
Darren.
