Warming up !!!

The first Bee-fly to appear in the garden this year.................the proboscis is rigid.

Spotted this one warming itself up on a paving stone at the weekend. Got this shot with wings resting - it was having a high speed flap most of the time.Smile and the wings were a blur.

Fantastic detail and clarity in this close up Brian, this is as good a macro as i've seen in an age. I thought the toys would bee flying out of the pram when KarenFB saw this one, she's been trying to no avail all today to snap a bee fly!WinkGrinTongue

I love bee-flies, they are always the first around. their furry coat and the proboscis shows so well in your picture.
