Water Rail

By ron thomas
This was taken through the window of the Visitor Centre at Burton Mere Wetlands RSPB reserve (it may be double glazed). The bird is one of two that appear regularly and moves are afoot to provide a "photography vantage point" so that visitors can get more eye level shots of them.

Me too. Never saw one in real life. Seems similar to the oyster catcher in some way. Related? A very good image considering the extra layers of glass. TG

A fine capture of an elusive bird

I have always thought that the RSPB are pro twitchers and nay toggersSad

About time they realised, that if they provided a togging hide and charged for it, they would make a fortuneSmile

I fell out with them re their Winter feeding approach at Fineshade
I think they have near enough pulled out of there now - no shop for certain - full of weekend caravaners

Hi Adrian,
Many thanks for your comment. I am working on the practicality of providing an "advance" hide situation for "fee paying" photographers. I agree with what you say and I could elaborate (but not here!)

I hope things are well with you, I don't seem to have anywhere near enough time to do all the things I want to do since I left "full time work" and that includes posting etc here. Please forgive me then if I am not as visible as I was in the past!

Very best wishes,
