There's much to enjoy about this image. Love the composition with the path leading through the arch formed by the trees. I have done a mod which is just my personal taste. I added a little the right hand side, increased the exposure a little and increased the colour of the wet fallen leaves.

Its a nice pleasant scene, and the quality overall is good.

You used a Landscape preset mode, and this works by enhancing greens and blues; so you can end up with very saturated greens.

The aperture is quite large at f/4, could have been set smaller, say f/8 for better depth.

I would also suggest it should be a little brighter, and in addition, I would reduce green intensity and blue.

Ive done this in the mod, and cropped on the other side to Ivor for a different look.

I notice that this is an older shot than the last few that you've put in the Critique Gallery - is there a specific reason for this?

I rather like Ivor's mod, which eases the tight feeling on the right, as well as making the detail of the greenery easier to approeciate. The precise way that you portray tones in this sort of scene is aprtly a matter of artistic choice: but it pays to make things reasonably easily visible to the viewer, and the detail in the leaves is a significant part of the appeal of this sort of shot.

A classic example of an occaison when a tripod would have allowed a smaller aperture, and more depth of field - it would have been beneficial here, I think.

I feel there may be a slight tilt to the frame, showing in the water.

Many thanks to you all for your excellent advice.
Dudler, the reason they are older is that I found the small portable hard drive which I took with me to Wales to be able to up load my images after each days shoot.

For me, this is two pictures in one - the waterfall and the pathway.

That's fine and it works well, but my eye went straight along the path and through the natural arch made by the trees. The foreground stepping stones take me straight onto the path. So I like the idea of widening the path by adding canvas to the right. It feels more comfortable, less cramped.

I've done a modification, again widening the path, but also brightening the image. I cropped to place both the brightest part of the waterfall and the light in the archway on thirds lines so that they both demand equal attention from a viewer.

It's a lovely scene.

Pamela.

Everyone has an opinion, and most are valid in one way or another. I rather like what you have produced as is. A figure on the path would suite me, but the overall presentation is up with the better ones we see and as good as many that seem to get awards in the main gallery.
