We're outta here!

By GeorgeP
These terns make it easy for the photographer. Set the camera ISO and speed/aperture; focus on the group and walk slowly towards them until they get nervous and fly off. If the wind direction is right, they come straight towards you - - standard take-off into the wind! The mass exodus even gets the nonchalant laughing gulls moving.

I've resurrected an old Pentax-F 80-200mm F4.7-5.6 and I am pleasantly surprised by the quality. It is has fast autofocus (a great boon compared to my usual manual 200 f/4 lens), and is much lighter and easier to carry around. More importantly, it is discrete - only a 49mm filter on the front.
