Wearing his red cap

By HobbitDave
Nice to see Mr Woodpecker yesterday if only very briefly. He is very flighty so I had to take this through glass, on a very grey day. His red cap shows up well though as does his pristine white plumage. Once he has been hunting for insects and grubs in the trees for a while the white can become a dull brown, stained with natures earth colours.
