Weather the storm

By redstag
For those of you that don't know, I am a marketing manager, I work for a company called HPI. We run vehicle checks for both the trade and consumers. Enough of the sales pitch!
We run a house magazine which is produced on a quarterly basis. It was due to go to press however the director didn't like the image we had for one of his articles. It showed a 4x4 in very stormy conditions, but he wanted to see a small city diesel 'weathering the storm' of car values.
Any excuse to get the camera out, so I drove out to Salisbury Plain, I had in mind the lay by by Stonehenge where I could park up but have the car look like it was moving. However when I arrived, I was really struck by this little lane covered in puddles.
When I left the weather was terrible, however, when I arrived there was blue sky, so I had to tone the sky down for the final shot.

It looks great on the page.

I have included the before shot which has the sky as it actually appeared, the car also still has its badge which had to be taken off for publication.

Jon

Both look great Jon, really like what you have done in V1 to get the moody sky, bags of atmosphere!

Like it a lot Jon, just not sure the work on the No plate is quite right, but one of your best IMO.

I like the treatment of V1 but prefer V2 largely for the car. The car without its badge looks awkward. Pity you couldn't keep it in for the publication.

Thanks all for the comments, I need to be careful with my new monitor!
Mike, did I get paid, unfortunately not, the marketing guy is really tight! And anyway, my budget wouldn't cover the pretentious Tog's fees. (Schizophrenic moment there.)
Warney, yes you are right about the reg plate, I literally changed it because it isn't good practice to promote real registration marks, and it isn't necessarily my best work!

Overall this did a job for me and I am delighted with the result, I've had quite a flat time creatively recently, and this has rekindled the fire for me.

Thanks
