Weight !!!

By chase
Produce from my garden this year. Tomatoes, Black Beans and Garlic. The Black Beans turn green when cooked...most odd but tasty.
Taken against a piece of black velvet strung from a small dress rail. Yes and its an Ironing board image Tongue with two parts of an old staircase for a base.
Lit by one filtered light box camera left, I used some old lace curtains draped over the light box just to cut down the harshness of the light a little.
An HDR image, 3 frames, 1 stop apart, merged in Lightroom and finished in Photoshop. No textures added Wink

I like the darkness of this, attempting a bit of a painterly feel.

Thanks for dropping by.
Constructive critique and mods very welcome.
Janet xx

Absolutely superb. I love the image, and thank you for the detailed shooting information. Years ago, I tried growing dark purple beans and always thought it was a shame they changed to green on cooking - the purple would have looked good on the plate. They tasted fine anyway.

What a fine picture - and there really is nowt like garlic for most known maladies. The Romans used it and wealthier soldiers carried some with them to ward off infections 👩🏻‍🚀🙂

Another lovely setup. However, my laptop screen is a bit on the bright side which is showing up some areas, especially round the garlic stalks, that are lighter in tone to the rest of the b/g. Maybe if you increase the brightness on your picture you will see what I mean? I know you won't mind my pointing it out??Blush
I once entered a photo into a club competition which looked great on my pc, but when projected in front of the assembled crowd(Grin), was covered in lines and streaks where I had not darkened the background uniformly. I wanted the ground to open up GrinBlushGrin

Thanks Fiona, I took the image back into Photoshop, ramped up the levels until I was almost blinded and...there they were !! Your monitor must be very bright but well spotted. I loaded a version for you, please check it out and let me know.

Anyone else seeing nasties ?

Many thanks for a GEA Dave, lovely compliment.

Perfect version! OK I am going to alter the settings on my laptop as I am obviously the only person here with "second sight" GrinGrinGrinGrin
Congrats on the GEA.

My screen is set quite bright Janet, but I am not seeing any nasties. But when I have a dark background that I want to check out I try to remember to open Shadows / Highlights adjustment and view it with plus 35% lightening on shadows. It can be quite revealing...

If it works for you Fiona then tbh leave as is. I think brightness is to individual taste.
Moira, it's been a while since I did anything with a black bg so my fault for not checking....I used to,I forgot, very remiss of me hangs head in shame Blush
Thanks for the feedback.

On a calibrated graphics monitor, there are light areas around the garlic stems, and at various spots on the background.

Still a well put together image.

Thanks Willie, Fiona pointed that out to me so I did a version, hopefully corrected.

Beautiful composition! For some reason it fills like it needed some more lighting.
I added a modification, with some adjustments made.
Otherwise, great photo!
