Very interesting - quite a number of unlikely buildings, for strictly non-seagoing purposes, were modelled on liners in the 1930s, it was terribly fashionable. There's a pair of semis in an ordinary residential street on the outskirts of Newcastle that look as though they could sail away any time. It's not a period I care for a lot, but it's good to see it's being preserved.

I don't know what chemicals they have you sniffing Matt so that you get seasick in there!
I think I'd prefer that kind of building to the horrible one I work in.

As you say Matt, a strange choice of design, this must be where they got the idea for these modern cruise ships! Nice shot, shows it well.

The building does look rather ''pristine''.Well looked after for its age.It would make you wonder what goes on behind closed doors.Wouldn't want to be the window cleaner tho'!!.Good one Matt.

Hi Matt, good one, it does look very clean and clinical but it doesn't do ocean liner for me. It's certainly a pleasant place to work and you've captured it well, the perspective is rather good. There are a lot of 'chemical' plants in the US that are like this, perhaps the architectural influences of the twenties were still being felt in 1934. Anyway, it's a good shot and not a bad place to spend your days. helen x
