Well, Well

Many thanks for the votes & comments on my previous upload, all of which are very much appreciated.

Well, Well, an image of one of six wells in the Derbyshire village of Ashford-in-the-Water, which are decorated to celebrate the annual Wells Dressing festival. Unfortunately, all Derbyshire wells dressing festivities were not allowed to take place this year due to Covid. I like how this little pump had become decorated by nature’s gift of fallen leaves. Once again, on the dark side and a bit grungy.

What a wonderful, quaint old tradition well dressing is. We have had it down here, on the IW, but presumably not this year. Your tribute, with nature's own dressing, is lovely, Angela.

A respect for nature, wells are considered sacred by many traditions, ‘blood of the earth’ perhaps. Lovely to see this, decorated or not. Lovely stone detail.
