Wellington Pier

By TrevBatWCC
The first of two or three uploads of some evening images. Our hotel was almost directly opposite Yarmouth's Wellington Pier, and having seen it illuminated on Christmas Eve, thought I just had to go outdoors and photograph it! So, after having dinner on Christmas Day and flaking out in the hotel lounge for a couple of hours or so, went out with the camera when the pier's lights went on and before it got too dark. Not having my tripod, I upped the ISO to 1600, and shot hand-held at 1/10 second.

Single Raw images processed in Adobe Camera Raw 7, tweaked in Photoshop Elements 11.

Thanks again to everyone for your votes & comments on my previous uploads, it really is appreciated and encouraging.

I know the lens has VR but that's still pretty damn' sharp for 1/10 sec.! Super clarity.
I presume the pier extends seaward beyond the amusement arcades but those are the bits that keep the pier going, I suppose.

I go along with Bill's comment re. exposure: well captured kow light scene, without over-exposure or flaring of the street light.

You have steady hands, Sir!
The place looks a lot better lit up than in daylight, I notice.

A beautifully sharp and well composed image, Trev.

A fine low light composition and no apparent "noise" for such a high ISO.

Haven't been on the Pier for a while now, think I better take a trip there in the Summer, you have wetted my appetite with your Gt Yarmouth images Trevor.

Brilliantly sharp. I bet the inside's not half as nice. Smile

Good grief Trev, you must have a very steady hand to get this clarity at 1/10 of a second. Well done you!
