Great composition, some nice diagonals and the portrait version sets this off a treat. The light on the bridge tho is just superb.

Overall I like it Nick. The bridge feels a liitle abruptly severed at the right but the tones and f.g. work well.

The soft movement of the water adds to the dream-like feel. Lovely use of vertical. I can't make my mind up over the cut-off on the right, it's a bit severe but also adds mystery.
That was a superb set of pictures, thanks for the reminder.

I was aware at the time about the bridge. Unfortunately I didn't have much room on the rock outcrop to work with, this was at the 10mm end on the 10-20, so was the best I could muster, with a portrait version. The bridge I decided to use as a reference, to give it a place of belonging, but it was the water movement and the rock I was using as the main element hers.

Well composed with the outcrop of rock leading the eye into the image, pleasing light and a nice bit of foreground interest from the motion in the water. That said I too prefer my landscapes in, er um, landscape format. I know it's silly but you just seem to get more landscape for your money that way. So yes, this is pretty good but it leaves me wanting to see more to the left and right.

Oh yes It gives you (well me at least ) a great thrill. But gets expensive on the boots - the eyelets don't last long in salt water !

Great shot like the composition

I like the watery foreground leading the eyes into the river with the bridge at the end.
For me it's not the bridge the most important part of the shot so I don't it being cut off. JNC

Strange what you say about portrait, I find the opposite to be true that I really have to make the effort to compose in landscape!
Takes all sorts!

Super light in the shot.

Suits the format well Nick but feel as though I want to see more of the bridge span on the rhs.

I think the portrait format lends itself to this particular composition Nick.Perhaps the impact of that lovely line of rocks would have been almost lost on a landscape version.....hey listen at me..Mrs landscape...NOT !! Wink

I've just found this one after a wander through the gallery and I'm pleased I did. It would be interesting to see a 'landscape' version but as it is it brings all the attention on to the water. Glorious light.
