What Now?

By Lillian
This herd of both Fallow and Red deer
had just stopped after a stampede, and I was lucky to be in the right place
when they stopped with all the steam coming off from the cold
there were so many could not fit even half in... sadly

(Sadly the park had been doing a Cull on Wednesday morning)

Version just two rushing off!

Was an exceptional day there with the early morning fog and heavy frost

Thank you all for the wonderful comments and awards yesterday
with the stag in frosted bracken

Wow! What a herd, It lts a pity about the cull but I suppose its something that has to be done to keep the herd healthy.
Two very good images Lillian. Thank you for sharing them with us.

Another exceptional shot. So sad they have to cull. I wouldn't like to be around when they do that. Sad

Lovely atmospheric image with all that moisture from their breath.
Culls are necessary as too many animals will be detrimental to the Park environment and there are no natural predators to keep numbers in check.

It is sad they have to be culled but they do need to be. I don't know if this is in the New Forest but that is where we are and there are too many deer. Great to see but probably not great for the environment if left unchecked.

What we need to do is reintroduce wolves! More photo opportunities, better deer management - Win win. Tongue
